Just thought I would write a quick review of the Canon MX870 printer I use in my home office. ......
I bought this after my last HP Officejet all in one died. Tired of the ink expense plus I had some very bad HP customer service experiences. Swore that was the last HP I would ever own.
Started looking around and found a great buy on this Canon printer. Its the first Canon I've ever owned. I like how the ink is split into several cartridges instead of two. Depending on what colors you might be printing you only have to buy a particular color. The individual cartridges retail our around $15 or so each. I don't print an awful lot of stuff but I think the ink usage is reasonable. I don't leave the printer on all the time so it doesn't cycle to clean the heads all the time. Doesn't seem to have affected it after about a year now?
The footprint of the unit is fairly large but I have the space for it. Paper tray is kind of small too. If you did a lot of printing that might be something to consider. I do like the wireless feature. We have everything set up wireless here so myself, kids and wife can all print to it.
I'm pretty sure this exact model is discontinued now but there are similar Canon replacements now.
From my year or so of experience with this unit I would buy another.
